LA Mission Cruises Past Glendale with 7-2 Victory
Sylmar, CA – The LA Mission College women’s tennis team delivered another strong conference performance, defeating Glendale Community College 7-2 on Thursday. Behind dominant singles play and key doubles victories, the Eagles continued to solidify their place as one of the top teams in the Western State Conference.
Doubles Play Sets the Tone
LA Mission opened the match with a 2-1 lead after doubles play, showcasing solid teamwork and execution.
- Genesis Nochez and Jaelyn Rivera dominated at No. 1 doubles, shutting out G. Marquez and M. Marquez with a commanding 8-0 win.
- Kirsten Bonzon and Dayana Albizures put together an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles, giving LA Mission another point.
- Caitlin Nycum and Alitzel Ortega Partida battled at No. 2 doubles but fell 8-5 to A. Lee and Y. Sirakanyan, keeping Glendale within striking distance heading into singles play.
Singles Domination Secures the Win
The Eagles continued their strong play in singles, winning five of the six matchups to seal the 7-2 victory.
- Jaelyn Rivera (No. 1 singles) was flawless, cruising past M. Marquez 6-2, 6-1 for another key point.
- Genesis Nochez (No. 2 singles) battled through a marathon match, edging out A. Lee 7-6, 8-6, 6-4 in a gritty performance.
- Alitzel Ortega Partida (No. 4 singles) was in complete control, winning 6-2, 6-0 over Y. Sirakanyan.
- Caitlin Nycum (No. 5 singles) added another dominant win, taking down V. Temores 6-1, 6-2.
- Cittalli Diaz (No. 6 singles) completed the singles sweep with a 6-3, 6-0 win over M. Canuto.
- The only singles loss for LA Mission came at No. 3, where G. Marquez defeated Kirsten Bonzon 7-5, 6-2 in a tough battle.

With the 7-2 victory, LA Mission improves its conference record and continues its strong season. The team's dominance in singles play has been a key factor all season, and their latest performance reinforces their Top 10 ranking in Southern California.
