The men's soccer team will be focusing on a strong mentality going into this season as it looks to build around key returners and a talented freshmen class.

Last season the L.A. Mission College men's soccer team found a great deal of success finishing with a record of 13-5-6 making it to the Southern Section Final where they fell just short to Oxnard College who went on to win the state title.
This year the Eagles will be focusing on staying strong both mentally and physically to have the best season possible.
The team is looking to build around its returners from last year as they have some key guys who, "on any day, at any game can really take over with the right mindset and are capable of doing some damage" says head coach Julio Castillo.
The team has also built a promising recruiting class with a strong group of freshmen who are used to competing at a high level and have great knowledge and awareness of the game.
Having an experienced group of first year college athletes has helped the coaching staff train them at the most effective level and they are buying into mission's winning brand of soccer.
At this level injuries are a factor the coaching staff are being cautious of because the play is always physical and athletes want to push themselves as far as they can.
With that in mind the players and staff have put a huge focus on the athletes taking care of their bodies between games and practices so they can compete to their potential all the way through the season.
L.A. Mission will have one of the toughest schedules in their conference.
The Eagle's Coaches hope that this competitive schedule against top teams will prepare them to play the best soccer possible while also helping their chances of making it into playoffs with more power points.
With this difficult schedule that includes teams like Rio Hondo, Taft, and Hartnell Coach Castillo believes that if the men can make it into playoffs they will have a very good chance of success.
With a long list of games on the road the next home match for fans to enjoy will be Friday September 9 against Taft College at El Cariso Park at 2 p.m.
The Eagles first match of Conference will be a home game against College of the Canyons on Tuesday October 4 at 2 p.m.
