Julia Pickslay takes on the Head Coach title after joining the Lady Eagles as Assistant Cross Country Coach for the 2017 season. In her first season at LA Mission College, Julia helped the Lady Eagles reach their first Southern California championship competition in 19 years with a squad of first-time runners.
Pickslay joined LAMC after 3 seasons at Cuesta College as Assistant Coach for Track & Field working with sprints, hurdles, jumps and multi events and 2 seasons with the Cross Country team developing speed specialists. She also spent a season on the Central Coast as an Assistant Coach in sprints and hurdles at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before joining the Cougars. Her time on the Central Coast was preceded by 3 seasons at the College of San Mateo, both as an Assistant Coach and Interim Head Coach for Track and Field.
In her years working with high school athletes, Coach Pickslay built a strong program at Los Altos High School in the Bay Area with multiple league championships, Section and State Champions and finalists. She has been well known for working with 4-year universities and sending off many athletes to Div. I programs across the country. Her elite club team has traveled all over the US competing at Indoor and Outdoor Nationals, Nike Indoor and Outdoor Nationals, USATF Youth Nationals and the Simplot games. She’s earned multiple league Honor Coach and CCS section Coach of the Year recognitions.
Pickslay studied Speech Communication at San Diego State and competed as a sprinter and hurdler for the Aztecs. She’s been a competitive athletics coach since she graduated high school, including swimming, volleyball, and sport-specific speed and agility along with her tenured career in track and field and cross country.
